Abstract
Contrast between the linear and saturated behavior in the gyrotron backward wave oscillator (gyro-BWO) is studied with a numerical approach. Evolution from the linear to the nonlinear state as well as its effect on the efficiency and power scaling with respect to the interaction length is presented and physically interpreted.
