Abstract :
The key element in a transmission chain of a payload is the final amplification stage and, today, this function is accomplished mostly by TWTAs. Since mass and power consumption are the two elements most highly affecting the payload costs, TWTA producers have been spurred to further improve this product. Officine Galileo Milano (former FIAR Space Division), involved for more than 25 years as EPC /TWTA supplier in several space programs for scientific missions, Earth observation and communication, is able to offer a state-of-the-art product presenting the highest level of integration: the microwave power module. In the MPM the TWT, the EPC and the channel amplifier/lineariser have been integrated in a single compact lightweight box.
