Abstract :
A prototype for knowledge management platform based on modern information technology is presented. The platform includes network model and function model. The network model of three-layer Browser/Server is introduced in the platform. So designers can simply use browser to acquire knowledge, design and exchange in the different websites. The function model includes four modules as follows: service and management module, design knowledge base module, design and evaluation module, communication and feedback module. And the entire process of industrial design is carried out in the knowledge management platform, which includes concept definition, idea visualization and mass-production. In this process, the exchange and dissemination of knowledge is promoted and the capacity of the knowledge innovation is enhanced. Industrial design based on knowledge management should be considered as one of the main modes in the industrial design field.
