Abstract :
This paper investigates and undertakes simulation-based comparison of on-demand routing protocols in multi ad hoc networks. First, it investigates the factors affecting the performance criteria and working architecture of ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV), dynamic source routing (DSR) and temporally ordered routing algorithm (TORA). Second, it considers proposing a scenario of multi ad hoc network domains and their inter-communication using above three routing protocols separately. The simulation results show that throughput for AODV is better than both DSR and TORA by 50%. AODV has 25% lower delay than DSR and 50% lower than TORA for large number of nodes (20 nodes). The simulation is based on the application scenario model implemented on Opnetworks 10.5. It later suggests enhancement to overcome possible shortcomings observe in real life application scenario.
