Abstract :
Characteristics of both a new soft-switching power conversion system structured by a minimum number of devices and a new PWM method suitable for the power conversion system is presented. The commutation circuit for soft switching operation is inserted as an interface between a PWM converter and a PWM inverter. The number of commutations can be reduced by the PWM strategy. In the proposed system, a PWM converter and a PWM inverter are commutated once at the same time in every switching cycle by the soft-switching circuit.
