Abstract :
In less than fifty years, Japanese modern package design has reached the high level which has taken the western countries almost one hundred years. The main reason for its success is that Japanese package design is deeply rooted in its own national and traditional cultures, at the same time unceasingly absorbs the beneficial elements from the foreign cultures, especially Chinese culture. In this paper, authors explore how Japanese culture is strongly influenced by Chinese influence in different aspects and then focus on the combination of Chinese and Japanese culture in Japanese package design.
