Abstract :
Over the last decade, there has been extensive work to move to a high bandwidth wireless access network. This has been spearheaded by various radio access technologies (RAT) like WCDMA, CDMA2000trade and WLAN, each with its own advantages and limitations. Recently, there is a growing interest to add WiMAXtrade to this list. Key factor for all these technologies to coexist is mobility of handheld device across different RATs. To make this possible the networks have to share information among them and signal the handheld device to move to a suitable access network. This requires a significant amount of information sharing across multiple RATs. This paper discusses a new way of handling this data through an embedded database concept.
