Abstract
The method described here determines the electromagnetic field inside an inhomogeneously filled cavity coupled to waveguides. The structure consists of an arbitrarily shaped cavity, to which two cylindrical waveguides of arbitrary cross section are coupled. The medium inside the cavity is described by its spatially dependent permittivity, which may be an arbitrary function of space. The spectral domain technique, which has been presented in (1) for the analysis of inhomogeneously filled cavity resonators, is generalized here to the case, in which the cavity is coupled to waveguides. The method is applied to the analysis of scattering by dielectric bodies inside waveguides. The results are validated by comparison to other methods.
