Abstract :
A new routing protocol that uses the concept of BitTorrent file distribution system to exchange routing information among the nodes of the ad hoc network is proposed. This protocol is called BitTorrent enabled ad hoc network (BEAN) routing protocol. According to this protocol, the source is able to obtain multiple routes to the destination. The source then makes a decision on a particular route (best route) based on the QoS requirements. When a link or a node in the current active route fails, the source can make use of one of the alternate routes available. This speeds up switching to the new route to the destination or repairing the existing route.
