Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to emphasize the importance of developing a close relationship with your molder when it comes time to work on a new program. We outline areas of interest to discuss with your molder along with some of the challenges your molder faces when looking at bobbin programs. Whether a final product manufacturer or subcontractor uses an off the shelf bobbin or chooses to have a custom bobbin tooled, questions should be asked before the final purchasing decision is made. In many applications, manufacturing problems can be eliminated or labor content reduced if bobbin design and selection is given a high priority. Just keep in mind that a well designed, economically produced bobbin can and should be viewed as a program of mutual responsibility between the bobbin user and the molder
