Abstract :
The Indian Wave Energy Programme is based on the oscillating water column (OWC) principle. The power module consists of a twin Wells turbine coupled to a 55 kW slip ring induction generator. A SIMULINK model for estimating the performance is described. A controller, which maximizes the power output for the turbine, is also described. Numerical simulation shows an increase of turbine output power, for a module with control as compared to an uncontrolled module, for the same variation of differential pressure Experimental results are also shown for a switching circuit with two rotor resistances
