Abstract :
Transmission tower is the main part to bear loads in transmission lines, especially the angle tower, normally which does not only bear the vertical loads but also the transverse ones. When the wires break, the ruptured wire loads may load the tower with the form of impact loads; some parts of the tower may appear considerable impact tension. Such as large transverse displacements emerging in the tower head, meanwhile there is large twisted deformation in the tower. Besides, the axial stress of majority of rods also accelerates. And this impact effect will be more obvious, with the number of ruptured wire rising. However, the current Tower Design Code regard the ruptured wire loads as static ones without considering dynamic effects of ruptured wire loads.
