Product development is very meaningful to new entrepreneurial firms. Traditional resource-based view focuses on the ownership and control of resources, while the extension of the resource-based view cares about the value of the resources, no matter whether they are internal or external resources. The product development of entrepreneurial firms is facing the problem of lacking resources, which could be released with an extension of the resource-based view. Product development platform, product development alliance and political networks are valuable means for entrepreneurial firms to make the best of external resources. As a result, the rate of successful product development will be likely raised.
