Abstract :
A beam space processor is a two beam processor also referred to as Postbeamformer Interference Canceler (PIC) which cancels only one interference by forming two beams, a signal beam and an interference beam. This paper extends the PIC processor using the improved interference beams (IIB) for a number of interferences by deriving the expression of signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) and studies its performance when an array is situated in the near field of broadband acoustic sources. A number of examples are presented to show the performance, capability of distance discrimination and robustness against location errors of the proposed broadband beamformer.
