Abstract
Wave propagation in nonlinear light and wave guides with a dielectric constant or magnetic permeability being variable functions is studied. A theory of electromagnetic wave and field propagation in nonlinear media at large field amplitudes is under development, soliton solutions in plasma, ferromagnetics, semiconductors and so on are under consideration. Investigations are made of the fundamental and lowest modes, structure of fields, dispersion characteristics, group and phase velocities, energy distribution in E, H, TEH and hybrid waves for a number of approximations of dielectric constants and magnetic permeabilities of various media, i.e. dielectrics, ferromagnetics, semiconductors, etc.
