  • Abstract
To synthesize a novel environmental protection urea-formaldehyde resin, urea-formaldehyde resin was modified using keratin through adjusting factors of the mole ratio between formaldehyde and carbamide, adding time and adding amount of keratin.. Experimental results showed that the optimum molar ratio of formaldehyde to carbamide optimum for the keratin-modification resin is 1.3:1; after adding keratin into urea in the third time and it had better to add the amount to 5% of the quality of urea. By optimizing the synthesis process, finally we get the modified environment-friendly urea-formaldehyde resin. At the same time, as keratin´s wide variety of sources, low cost, the cost of the modified urea-formaldehyde resin is reduced.
