Abstract :
A new directional relay algorithm for high voltage line is proposed using generalized phasor and symmetrical component method. The algorithm can judge the direction of fault from calculating the phase difference between voltage and current in a shorter time. Its speed is faster than the conventional directional protection based on the industrial frequency fault component. Its reliability is higher than the travelling-wave protection. It has high sensitivity
