Abstract
We present an efficient and flexible method for the optimal synthesis of shaped beam linear array. The technique is based on the convolution of the desired pattern and a scanning function. The amplitude of the ripple in the shaped region and the height of the sidelobes in the nonshaped region are controlled. The shaped pattern is produced by a pure real distribution. Several computer examples, with low ratio of maximum to minimum current excitation, are presented. A comparative study with method of Elliott is realiced.
