Abstract :
The PDP system plays an essential role in the next generation television industry. The pixel, which inherently behaves like a lamp fabricated in the microcell, is the basic unit to compose the large PDP system. Nonlinear lighting phenomenon is exhibited. Meanwhile, high frequency switching in the MOSFET switch array is unavoidable in the PDP driver. This paper will propose new gray-level representation to enhance the electrical efficiency instead of frequency modulation. Also, efficiency enhancement will be measured to show the validity of the proposed method in this paper. It is shown that such a topology and modulation scheme will decrease the power loss obviously with respective to the traditional one.
