Abstract :
A new procedure is proposed for obtaining resonant frequencies and resonant modes of a Structure using a time-domain transmission line matrix (TDTLM) formulation. The procedure is based on the modal theory developed for the TLM method, where a TDTLM algorithm is transformed into an eigenvalue system. As a result, the solutions of the eigen-system naturally becomes the resonant frequencies and modes. The difference between this procedure and the conventional approach lies in that this procedure follows a different solution path and an actual simulation with sources is not required. Therefore, choice of excitation and output locations have no impact on the solutions.
