Abstract
To achieve accurate source localization based on wave theory it is necessary to accurately simulate waves in the medium in question. It may however be difficult to determine medium parameters such as the sound speed field and the geometry for a complex medium. To assess the necessary accuracy required for reliable source localization the singular values for the linearized modeling operator is studied for a wedge model. The study shows that source localization based on wave theory is robust to errors in medium parameters as long as the source wavelet is chosen appropriately
