Abstract :
A custom CMOS layout compiler, called DAVE, for mixed analog/digital ICs has been developed. The compiler is a process-independent tool which is able to generate arbitrary circuit layouts in MAG or CIF formats from SPICE circuit descriptions. The compiler not only handles typical mixed analog/digital layout constraints such as device matching, symmetry, and device shape constraints, but also fully decouples signal coupling between sensitive nets and noise nets. The compiler supports user-defined constraints on chip aspect ratio and the types of input/output pads. In comparison with previous approaches, DAVE features more flexibility, wider variety, lower amount of CPU time, and more considerations on mixed analog/digital layout constraints
