Abstract
In this paper, we develop a novel face recognition method based on weighted geodesic distances for recognizing 3D facial models. Firstly, an automatic 3D landmarks extracting method combining with 2D texture is proposed. Then we present how to obtain stable distances set which is a specific subset of geodesic distances and insensitive to facial expressions. Finally, we test the proposed 3D face recognition method on CAIAS 3D face database. And conclude that it is feasible to utilize weighted geodesic distances on 3D face recognition.
