  • Abstract
A method of analyzing the phasor diagrams for three phase transformers has been devised that uses three core loops positioned at 130 degree phase angle from each other and with conductors placed in the windows of the core loops to represent the direction and magnitude of the phasors in a radial direction at the necessary phase angles. The method also defines a transformer winding as having a node at the center point of the winding and shows how the first and last ½ turn determine the polarity of the phasor and the geometric patterns that result from connecting the ends of the phasors together. The results indicate the discovery of a “true wye” that does not exhibit the usual 30 degree phase shift as well as a six terminal “hexagon” winding. The additional contribution is the introduction of novel “web circuit” transformers. The implications are fundamental, far reaching and technically disquieting
