Abstract :
This paper addresses a new voltage control scheme, which is applicable for regulating voltage in an unbalanced distribution system. Unlike a conventional automatic voltage control (AVC) relay that acquires and processes only one phase current and voltage to regulate system voltage, the new AVC relay applies sequence voltages and currents to control unbalanced system voltage. Moreover, the analyses in the paper also visualise the impact of load unbalance on the performance of a conventional relay and validate the feasibility of the proposed scheme
