Abstract :
This paper proposes and analyzes the performance of admission control policy (ACP) of mixed traffic wireless cellular networks. The fact that different services require different bandwidth to carry a call is considered. Two-dimensional Markov chain models are developed to obtain the blocking probability of each type of call under the ACP of interest. Reducing handoff blocking of the service requiring wider bandwidth is discussed, and its cost on the rest of calls is examined. The ACP with channel reservation shows its effectiveness in meeting different design requirements. Their performance under different traffic distribution are also investigated. Finally, we extend the priority to all wide band service calls to reduce their blocking probability
