Abstract :
We report the first experimental observation of a collimation of the diverging light beam by a 3D photonic crystal of a woodpile type. The efficiency of the beaming in experiments reached only 20% (in terms of the energy part collected into a beam), which is close to the theoretically estimated value. However, the special measures can be taken in order to project the radiation more efficiency. This gives hope to improve the perfor mance of the beamer.
