Abstract
The method of lines (MoL) is developed to analyze open planar structures by using periodic boundary conditions (PBC). In this case, the fast Fourier transform (FFT) is used to calculate the impedance matrix elements. The comparison between PBC and absorbing boundary conditions (ABC) is made on convergence and CPU time. The microstrip line shown is used as an example in the analysis.
