Abstract :
This article presents a transcript of the speech by Stephen Timms at the IEE seminar on "How secure are Britain\´s electricity supplies?". His speech suggests that the market is working effectively to deliver secure energy supplies in the short term, and believes it will continue to do so in the longer term. The distribution and transmission networks are performing well, and when power failures have occurred, they\´ve learned to improve the robustness of the networks even more. Timms believed that working together will be able to meet the challenges and continue the excellent record in providing secure electricity supplies.
