Abstract
We present a wireless sensor network (WSN) for health monitoring of architectural heritage. The proposed WSN will be deployed in the "Torre Rognosa" tower located in the medieval village of San Gimignano, Ibscany, Italy. Provided that both the hardware and software platforms are accurately devised, such technology appears as a non-invasive tool suitable for long term monitoring and on-line diagnosis of the conservation state or heritage buildings. In particular, we design a monitoring system composed of radio equipped nodes interfaced with sensors platforms for monitoring crucial parameters, i.e. temperature, humidity, masonry cracks, pouring rain, visual light, and a user interface for remote control.
