Abstract :
In electric vehicle (EV) applications efficient consumption of energy is very important. Also there is so far no universal agreement in regard to which motor should be used. Different motors like DC motor, induction motor, permanent magnet motor etc. have been put into operation. The induction motors, although rugged and less expensive, have the problems of low efficiency at lower load. This paper proposes an energy efficient algorithm for the induction motor, which is also valid in high-speed operation. The system has been simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK and excellent performances have been noted. Experiments are also conducted to validate the results of simulation. The proposed method of control makes the induction motor a strong candidate for EV applications
