Abstract :
The theoretical model of broad area VCSELs with FSF was first discussed. The model incorporates a full external cavity treatment which is required due to the high reflectivity of the volume Bragg grating. The experimental setup is instead presented. The VCSEL is aligned with a Volume Bragg Grating (VBG) which provides the frequency selective element, while a beam splitter couples the output to the detectors. Individual LCS can be written by means of a pulsed writing beam applied through the VBG.
