Abstract :
In most of the wireless sensor networks, CSMA/CA is adopted as the MAC protocol. With the increase of wireless nodes, access delay will redouble. A novel nested cellular topology was proposed, which divides the network into regular subnets. End devices, routers and coordinator work at different layers and channels, so that the co-channel interference between subnets will be reduced dramatically. Moreover, the channel reuse can greatly improve the network efficiency and capacity. OPNET simulation results show that this topology has reduced the average delay, decreased the amount of data dropped, increased the network throughput and enhanced the network real-time performance and certainty. It is better than the mesh topology, and shows some inspiration for researching other wireless networks.
