Abstract :
Adaptive antenna arrays can combat multipath fading of a desired signal and suppress interfering signals, thereby increasing the performance, voice-quality and capacity of wireless systems. We investigated the effects of frequency selective fading on the performance of an 8-element circular adaptive antenna array. Without loss of generality, a line-of-sight (LOS) signal s(t), a multipath of LOS signal m(t), a co-channel interfering (CCI) signal c(t) and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) comprise the signal environment in our studies. Some of these signals may have different angles of arrival (AOA), time delays and different power levels, thereby causing different effects on the adaptive antenna array system. The LMS algorithm and discrete time direct sampling method are employed to carry out simulations on the BER performance of the adaptive antenna array system for several typical cases of interfering environments. Simulation results and related discussions are presented
