Abstract :
We describe a simple method to estimate the thermal conductivity of magneto optical (MO) media consisting of a glass substrate, the TbFeCo magneto-optical layer, and a Si/sub 3/N/sub 4/ dielectric layer. The method is based on determining the laser power needed to reach the Curie temperature at the center of a focused spot.
