Abstract
The authors describe a time-domain approach to the determination of transient antenna impedance. The antenna is treated as a scattering surface subject to a strongly localised electric field. This incident field is set uniformly to zero, except in the region of the feed where it is defined such that an effective voltage is apparent. Surface currents can then be computed for the antenna, using a marching-in-time method based on a solution of the electric field integral equation (EFIE). The defined source voltage and computed feed current can then be used to determine the input impedance of the antenna over a very wide band, via the Fourier transform
