Abstract
Recently, there has been a considerable amount of research done on the use of electrical motors controlled by adjustable speed drives, often called inverters. In some instances these inverters have been shown to greatly reduce motor life. The failure mechanism has been in the insulating materials. This paper tries to give an overview of various insulating resins and their performance with standard magnet wire as well as the new `pulse resistant´ magnet wires especially designed for use with inverters
