Abstract :
Development of blue LDs (laser diodes) enables us to achieve a high areal density with conventional MO media. We already reported the importance of thermal flow control of media. We also proposed the new disk structure suitable for a blue laser in this paper. We report the feasibility to achieve higher areal density (10 Gbit/inch/sup 2/) using the new disk structure, and land and groove recording technique. In order to suppress the cross talk from the adjacent tracks, we also use an optical phase shift method.
