Abstract
The paper describes a new type of medical information environment for ECP medical center based on DICOM communication protocol, which is fully LAN-enabled. The system comprises three types of facilities: the ECP device, the ECP server, and the ECP workstation. In this article we discussed SCP and SCU functions for medical waveforms, and then noted the reason that DICOM was chosen, and the functions that the system performed. At last, a LAN system for ECP medical center based on DICOM communication protocol has been established, which is being evaluated within the Key Laboratory on Assisted Circulation Ministry of Health in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. The evaluation has shown that the system exactly corresponded to the clinical requirements. For the further purpose of our research, the system can merge into PACS, HIS, RIS and Web-server, even family.
