Abstract
A field theoretical method for the analysis of microwave ovens is presented. The developed computer code is the main building block for an accurate computer aided design of microwave ovens. The analysis models the food inside the oven by a lossy dielectric body. The matching elements in the feeding waveguide near the electrically large coupling aperture are taken into account. The computer code has been validated by comparing the simulated energy distribution on the top surface of a lossy ceramic plate inserted in the oven to thermophotos which have been photographed by a thermocamera immediately after the plate has been heated in the oven.
