Abstract :
Digital rights management (DRM) systems provide a means for content providers and distributors to address the unauthorized copying issue, in order to meet consumer´s expectations, DRM approaches and related services and applications upon which they are based should coexist in an environment that supports interoperability. In this paper, we propose a General-Schema (G-Schema) approach to DRM interoperability problem, the concept model of G-Schema is based on the China DRM metadata standard draft, rights information can derive from G-Schema to generate specific DRM licenses based on different rights expression mechanism; Since Windows Media rights management (WMRM) is one of the most widely-used systems for protecting digital content, a testing project is also discussed for providing example implementation of interoperability with WMRM via G-Schema.
