Abstract
In this paper, a novel method to real-time remote monitoring of out-of-hospital patients, especially with high risk heart diseases, is presented. Furthermore, a system prototype with the integration of cardiac monitoring, wireless communications, and GPS localization and propriety information management technologies is developed and experimentally validated to preliminarily illustrate the concept. Practically, it is expected to overcome limitations of the current available telemonitoring systems and become a powerful aid for clinicians to prevent morbidity, mortality and disability with rapid diagnosis and effective treatment.
