Abstract
The author describes the testing and analysis of a low level escape route lighting system used in offshore platforms. It consists of electroluminescent strips enclosed in polycarbonate housing which is normally affixed to the wall some 25 cms above the the ground. The lights are powered by a 40 volt 1 kHz square wave derived from a battery backed up power source. The author discusses the analysis of the power supply and oscillators, batteries, electroluminescent strips, and the wiring
