  • Abstract
    We report high-power-efficiency, surface-emitting, single-mode terahertz quantum cascade (QC) lasers with a photonic heterostructure resonator. This concept allows one to selectively excite an unusual resonance mode exhibiting a symmetric transverse electromagnetic field distribution and therefore high radiation efficiency.
