Abstract
Wireless sensor network is a kind of network which usually consists of many energy-limited sensor nodes. It´s important to enhance the energy efficiency. In this paper we describe a virtual switch and stay system called distributed switch and stay system with a single amplify and forward relay to simplify the scenario of wireless sensor networks. From the respect of outage probability, we compute the energy efficiency of the system. The result shows that the outage probability and energy efficiency is largely influenced by the value of the switching threshold. The superiority of the system can be seen especially in low SNR region.
