  • Abstract
Since 1984, German coal mines have used pressurized enclosures in potentially dangerous atmospheres with success. This type of protection-EEx p I-starts the large scale integration of power installations in only one enclosure. These pressurized enclosures comply with the Harmonized European Standards EN 50 014 and EN 50 016 and are certified for Group I applications. In addition, they comply with national installation codes, e.g., the German Standard VDE 0118, which sets up regulations concerning the health and safety of the personnel and protection against fire. Some of these special precautions are described
