Title :
Ignitions caused by partial discharges

Abstract :
As a result of explosions with unexplained causes in high-voltage motors, partial discharges as one possible ignition source of explosive gas-air-mixtures are being discussed. In this paper, experimental investigations concerning partial discharges in explosive atmospheres are described arising from elementary electrode arrangements and motor models. These investigations contribute to discussions on how far the present state of explosion protection, especially of high-voltage motors, is affected
