Abstract
The performance of alarm systems can be a problem across many sectors of industry. It can reduce operator effectiveness and increase the likelihood of accidents. For these reasons, alarm systems are receiving increased attention from Regulators. Best practice guidance has been published, and if past performance is anything to go by, the Regulators will be expecting industry including the railway industry-to take on board the guidance, to apply it, to reflect it in their corporate standards, and to develop it yet further
