Abstract :
The paper presents a new lightwave-microwave phase detector which can be implemented into a MMIC construction. The new phase detector is rather simple and exhibits a good performance. Previously, indirect phase detection has been presented containing PIN photodiodes and a microstrip hybrid. Neither the PIN diodes, nor the microstrip hybrid can be used in a MMIC realization. In the new lightwave-microwave phase detector there is no need for a hybrid and FET´s are applied as both photodetectors and microwave detectors. The FET´s are very well applicable in MMIC´s. Further, avoiding the application of the hybrid the phase detector becomes simpler and its frequency band much broader.
