  • Abstract
A novel method of intelligent automatic layout of one-line diagrams for district electrical distribution network is proposed in this paper. Initially, a set of aesthetic criteria ("distributing of substation diagrams evenly in the frameminimum linelimited crossings") have been introduced. Further, a modified particle swarm optimization algorithm is presented to search the best layout of one-line diagrams, which is based on simple substation wiring diagrams as placement modules and good layout frame design and practical wiring method. In this algorithm, a series of improvements are applied to maintain the population diversity in the earlier search, and gradually transfer to the later local search. The global performance is clearly improved. Diagrams generated with this method are aesthetically \´pleasing\´ and \´readable\´ and \´understandably\´. The method has been programmed and applied to automatic voltage control (AVC) system in some district electrical distribution network.
